- NewDescribe the tool you want in plain language and App Studio builds it on your live Novaplan data, with its own screens, filters and charts. Ask for a hiring cost what-if, a headcount summary, or a scenario input form, and the builder works through a visible checklist of steps and hands back a working app you can edit, not a mockup. Its charts can plot several series at once and its tables can pivot measures into columns, so what you get reads like something your team built by hand.
- NewPut two or more budget versions next to each other and see exactly where they differ, line by line. Double-click any number to drill into the rows behind it, open a version's journal entries inline, or ask how a figure was calculated without leaving the page. The Headcount view sets a treemap and a waterfall side by side, counts open roles as heads, and ties back to the company GL, so a variance you can see is one you can explain.
- ImprovedA single toggle now switches the whole Headcount Overview between counting people and counting cost, and everything follows it: the KPIs, the breakdown table, the treemap, the tooltips and every drill. Point-in-time views tie back to the exact number on the card, so when you open a headcount figure to see who is in it, the rows add up to what you clicked.
- ImprovedMetrics now honor the filters on the surface they sit on, so a number reflects the department or period you selected instead of the whole company. Each metric carries its own as-of freshness rather than a shared one, and a batch of metrics that used to sit blank now compute, so the Metrics Center reads as current and complete.
- NewAsk Novaplan for a headcount variance brief and it writes a branded analysis that compares two versions of your plan, decomposes the gap into its real drivers, and reconciles all the way down to the employee. It is one of a family of briefs (headcount, GL, revenue and quota) you can trigger straight from Novaplan's MCP inside your own AI assistant, no dashboard required. New this month: the brief is now yours to edit, so you can adjust its narrative, the figures it shows and the sections it includes before it reaches the board.
- ImprovedEmployees whose employment type does not count toward headcount (freelancers, interns, contractors) now appear in Employee History marked "Not Counted" and greyed, instead of being hidden entirely. You see everyone and their cost, and the headcount total still leaves them out, so the count does not move.
- FixedIn the headcount drill-down, terminated employees now show their position number and open roles show their department, both of which were blank before. Non-headcount types like freelancers no longer show up in the headcount reconciliation, so the drill matches the headcount total on the overview.
- ImprovedBonus and commission now land in the month your compensation calendar actually pays them, instead of an assumed lag. Cash timing matches payroll rather than approximating it.
- FixedExpense-derived GL rows were being dropped before they reached the cash statement, so 16.4M of real spend never appeared. Every one of those rows now flows through.
- NewRenaming a category now updates every row carrying the old name in one action, tells you how many rows it will touch before it commits, and refuses to merge two categories unless you confirm. Previously a rename changed one row and quietly split your reporting.
- FixedA leave entered with an end date used to remove the person's cost and never bring it back, understating cost for the rest of the plan. The forecast now returns them the month after the leave ends.
- FixedA change of cost centre that kept the same parent department produced no history entry at all. History now tracks the cost centre itself, and dates each change by when it took effect rather than when we noticed it.
- FixedAsked what you spent with a vendor, Nova could add the expense, the offsetting prepaid and the bank payment together and report two different totals. It now answers from profit and loss accounts only.
- NewPlan cash as its own statement instead of inferring it from the P&L. Novaplan re-times your existing accrual plan onto a cash basis, adds capex, debt and tax schedules, and shows closing balance, burn and runway on one page. You can upload movements by CSV, drill any figure back to the rows behind it, and every line ties to the same model the rest of your budget uses.
- NewChange a salary, a department or an employment status now, or set it to take effect from a month you choose. Scheduled changes show a clock on the cell, tell you what is queued and when, and can be cancelled from the same badge. Your current month stays correct while the plan ahead reflects what you already know is coming.
- NewA memo you write on one row can now be shared, and editing it updates every row that carries it. Rows using a shared memo are marked, so you can tell at a glance whether a note is local to that line or repeated across the plan. It works on Open Positions, HC Planner, Cash forecast and GL adjustments.
- NewTie the model back to an external spreadsheet without leaving Novaplan. It compares per employee and per component, handles mixed currencies with per-employee FX, runs across a date range or a full year, and shows where a rate disagreement is hiding inside an otherwise clean total.
- NewFringe rates, commission attainment and commission spread no longer have to be one number for the whole year. Set them per month where the reality is seasonal, and the forecast follows. The monthly editors show the shape as a bar chart so a mistyped month is obvious.
- NewConnectors are now grouped by direction, so it is clear which integrations feed Novaplan and which publish out of it. Every schedule can run at a time of day you pick, attached Google Sheets show their column mapping, and manual runs are recorded alongside scheduled ones. NetSuite can now authenticate with a certificate.
- ImprovedWhen you expand a grouped table, every level is now labelled with the dimension it represents, so a nested row reads as Department, then Account, rather than leaving you to infer it. On People Snapshot you can also freeze the leftmost columns like Excel, and the grid remembers where you set the split.
- ImprovedIf your company says Business Unit rather than Department, an admin can rename the term once and it applies across column headers, filters, navigation and exports. The underlying data, metrics and integrations are untouched, so nothing breaks downstream.
- FixedClicking to see the rest of your insights did nothing on Headcount, Budget, Revenue and Cash overviews. The panel was opening behind a card that clipped it. The card now grows to fit, so the full list appears.
- NewPlan revenue the way you actually think about it. Set a top-down CARR target and allocate it across segments on a canvas, build cohorts with editable ramp curves, and staff a hire plan by sales role. Every path to the number is reproducible instead of a spreadsheet guess.
- NewContracted ARR now flows through an activation model into Live ARR and recognized P&L revenue, so bookings, activations, and recognized revenue all tie back to the same events. Nothing is hidden or hand-mapped.
- NewPlan opex line by line in a spreadsheet-style monthly grid, seed it from prior-year actuals, drive lines off headcount or revenue, model vendor contracts, and push a department target down across the plan. It rolls into the GL like the rest of your budget.
- NewChoose which KPIs show on Planning Overview, Headcount, Budget, and the dashboard, and pin any metric as a live column on your grids. Each surface remembers what you care about.
- ImprovedVariance drill-downs now fetch once and expand in memory, so clicking through the hierarchy is instant instead of reloading, and it works on locked versions too.
- ImprovedA locked, board-approved version no longer silently restates when someone later edits a customer's country or a department mapping. What you locked is what you see.
- ImprovedBudget Overview, Headcount Overview, and Comparison Center are backed by a smarter cache that keeps your live version warm, so wide date ranges load quickly instead of freezing.
- NewTell ARR Studio where you want to land, like reach 10M ARR by Q4, and it works the levers backward with a deterministic solver. The path to the number is reproducible instead of a back-of-envelope guess.
- NewNova now meets you on every screen with a page-aware card that explains what you are looking at and links straight to the guide for it, so you spend less time hunting for where a number comes from.
- ImprovedEditing a single row in the plan editor, headcount, GL, and revenue-driver grids no longer spills your change onto the other rows you had selected. One edit changes one row.
- FixedBudget Overview no longer white-screens on wide date ranges. The runaway multi-year aggregation query behind that freeze is gone.
